Chris has helped with the East Midlands Triathlon Academy (EMTA) for a number of years and has had a real impact on their learning and development as athletes. Specifically, Chris has organised technical swim days for the academy where he has delivered simple but effective swim education sessions, followed by in- 1:1 stroke analysis and in-depth feedback to all athletes. Every athlete took away key learnings from the day that they could go away and work on in the daily training environment. Several athletes have had further analysis, and all have made significant improvements on their stroke and swim times. I would highly recommend Chris as a coach and his ability to help you develop as an athlete.

Chris has been coaching my swimming for over two years and in that time I have made incredible progress. Chris achieves this through thorough analysis, crystal clear communication and constant feedback when things have gone well or need further work. There are times when I haven’t instantly understood feedback so Chris has always taken the time to explain things in a different way and to repeat this until I’ve grasped the concept and been able to regularly put it into practice. He’ll then encourage use of drills to ensure this is engrained into the full stroke. Some of the key technical points that have improved are stroke timing, rhythm of kick with the rest of the stroke, hand entry point and timing, head position and lots more. All of this has led to a 7 minute improvement in my Ironman swim split PB and 4 minute improvement on my half distance swim split PB.

One to one swim sessions have really helped progress my swim. By looking at my stroke and analysing where improvements can be made allows specific swim drills to be tailored to improve my technique. It’s especially invaluable when making sure the drills are executed correctly whilst understanding what they mean and how this translates into improved swim efficiency and swim times.

My recent 1:1 swim coaching session with Chris was excellent. He was quickly able to identify key areas of improvement and focus in my swim technique and spent a lot of time really ensuring I understood how to implement the small changes that would make the biggest difference. I now have some key areas to work on in the pool and already in the few weeks following this I am seeing a significant increase in my efficiency in the water and my times are already reducing. I would thoroughly recommend Chris and particularly the 1:1 sessions as he is patient, thorough, encouraging and extremely knowledgeable and will tailor the session for you and your needs.
